National Statistics Office of Mongolia hosted the 14th meeting of the High-level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity Building (HLG-PCCB) for Statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in 22-25 May in Ulaanbaatar.

Members of HLG consist of heads and chief statisticians of 24 countries’ national statistical organizations representing 13 regions of the world. The HLG-PCCB mandated to provide strategic leadership for the sustainable development goal implementation process as it concerns statistical monitoring and reporting.
Also, heads and chief statisticians of United States, Angola, Argentina, Denmark, Hungary, Ecuador, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Suriname, Shri Lanka, Myanmar, Italy, Palestine and Switzerland were participated.
Ms. Ariunzaya Ayush, Chairperson of National Statistics Office of Mongolia, is working as one of the Co-chairs of the HLG-PCCB. In this meeting, over 30 participants from members of HLG-PCCB led by director of United Nations Statistics Division and representatives from international and donor organizations have attended in this meeting.
Ms. Haishan Fu, Director of World Bank’s Development Data Group, presented Flagship event in 2019 of World Bank, and coordination between the Statistical Offices and donor agencies.
The 14th meeting of the High-level Group was continued its third day sessions at Parliament House and observed the Spring session of the State Great Khural and Parliament House. During this meeting, Mr. Zandanshatar G., Speaker of the Parliament, congratulated to the delegates and expressed his gratitude for their valuable contribution to development of statistics.
The 14th meeting of the High-level Group continued at National Statistics Office, discussing how to coordinate statistical capacity building and coordination of statistical capacity building at national, regional and international levels.
Ms. Beate Trankmann, Resident Representative for UNDP in Mongolia, Resident Coordinator for the UN System in Mongolia, presented on coordination of activities in Mongolia.
Mr. Maciej Truszczynski, Head of Section of Statistics Denmark, was introduced policy and statistical organization of the Denmark.
Ms. Gemma Van Halderen, Director, Statistics Division of UNESCAP, introduced activities of UNESCAP.
Ms. El Iza Mohamedou, Deputy Secretariat Manager, PARIS21, was introduced statistical development partnership of PARIS21.
During the meeting, participants had discussions on membership of HLG-PCCB, members’ role, review of documents of 3rd World Data Forum to be held in Switzerland in 2020, financing of the statistics and more efficient UN Statistical system.
